Most divorce recovery is delivered one client at a time. The seminar model is different: one evening a week, thirty to fifty people in a room, ten weeks. It reaches more people, it costs each of them less, and it produces something a one-to-one practice cannot — a community of graduates who stay involved and send you the next class.
Licensing is by application.
We look for experienced professionals who can carry a room and build a practice. Not everyone is accepted.
A ten-week divorce recovery workshop, built on the method Dr. Bruce Fisher created in 1975 and refined over fifty years. Same nineteen Rebuilding Blocks as the seminar, same sequence — delivered to a small group instead of a large one.
That difference changes the work more than it sounds. In a room of forty, people can sit at the back and take it in. In a small group there is nowhere to hide, and nobody gets to be anonymous. Students go deeper, they go faster, and they pay more for it.
It also asks more of you. A large seminar rewards a good presenter. A small workshop rewards a facilitator who can read a room of eight people, notice who has gone quiet, and know what to do about it.
Everything is included at this tier. Nothing is sold separately.
Nick Meima has spent twenty years seeing clients in private practice and has delivered more of these programs than anyone in the organisation. He also holds formal training in group facilitation, which most clinicians do not.
You can learn the curriculum from a manual. You cannot learn what to do when week three goes sideways from a manual.
That is what the session with Nick is for. Bring the questions the materials will not answer.
Two formats, two licences, two different kinds of practice. Some facilitators run both.

The honest way to choose: the seminar suits a larger market and a facilitator who is comfortable presenting to a full room. The workshop suits a facilitator who wants fewer students, closer work and a higher fee per head.
If you are unsure, say so in the application. It depends more on your market and your temperament than on your credentials, and it is a better conversation than a decision made off a page.

You do not have to guess. We publish adjustment data from more than five thousand people entering divorce recovery.
| Among people seeking divorce recovery | Share |
|---|---|
| Have not finished their divorce | 69% |
| Did not end the relationship themselves | 51% |
| Married 21 years or more | 37% |
| Women | 64% |
Fisher Divorce Adjustment Scale assessments, 2023–2026. See the Divorce Recovery Index.
This is not a young-couples market. Your students will mostly be people in long marriages that ended without their choosing, still in the middle of the process.
We measure it, and we publish the result including its limits.
Among students with a verified before-and-after assessment, adjustment improved by a median of 84 points on the 500-point Fisher scale over roughly twelve weeks. People who took the same assessment twice without doing a program improved by 14 points — and a third of them scored lower than they had the first time.
The typical student moved from the 49th percentile to the 84th.
That matters commercially as well as clinically. You will be delivering something with published outcome data behind it, in a market where almost nobody else has any. Full figures and limitations are on the evidence.
Certified facilitators receive exclusive rights to deliver the workshop in their area. You become the divorce recovery program for that region — the one therapists refer to, the one attorneys mention, the one people hear about from a friend.
By population, not by map. An area has to contain enough divorcing people to fill your classes without you competing against a neighbouring facilitator for the same students.
That means the geography varies enormously. New York City could support a couple of dozen facilitators without any of them running short of students. Fort Collins, Colorado supports one. Both are fair territories, because both give the facilitator the same thing: a market that is theirs.
The point is not how many square miles you get. It is that you are the only one.
In practice the boundary gets drawn in conversation. You tell us where you live and work, and we look at what population that covers, what is already allocated nearby, and what would give you a viable practice. Some areas are already taken. Confirming yours is available is part of the application conversation.
Our free training is open to anyone. Facilitator licensing is not.
You will be the face of this program in your community, and a poorly run class damages the method's reputation as well as your own. The workshop format is the more demanding of the two, so we look closely at group experience as well as credentials. At minimum we look for:
Licensed mental health professionals are strongly encouraged to apply.
If you do not yet meet that bar, start with the free training. It costs nothing, it earns CE credit if you are licensed, and it is where most of our facilitators began.

The first step is an application. We will then find a time to talk through the options for your area, the investment, and how to get started.
The application asks about your qualifications and your plans in your own words. That section does real work — it is how we judge whether you can carry a room.
Tell us about your background, your area, and why you want to run this program
We respond within two business days.
Not ready to apply? Take the free training first. One hour, no cost, and it will tell you more about the method than this page can.
Boulder is run as part-time work with part-time administrative help. Ten sessions per class, four classes a year, plus a monthly introduction evening and whatever coaching you choose to offer.
Initially, yes. The referral engine and the graduate community are what reduce that over time, and both take a few cohorts to build. The assessment is the tool that does most of the early work.
We will tell you during the application conversation. In some cases a neighbouring area is available.
Yes. But it is unlikely that you will want to do that. We can explain more on the call.
No. You are licensed to deliver the program in your area and you run your own practice, set your own schedule and keep your own revenue. There are no ongoing royalties.
Not licensed as a therapist, no. But you do need a recognised coaching credential at minimum. See "Who we accept" above.
